A Wahoo is a fish found worldwide in tropical and subtropical seas, ranging from the Pacific, Atlantic, and Indian Oceans, the Caribbean, and the Gulf of Mexico. It is one of the fastest swimming fish in the ocean, reaching speeds over 50 to 60 mph. Its long, lean body may weigh up to 180 pounds and measure over 8 feet in length. It is unknown how the Wahoo got its name. One theory is that early European explorers found the fish plentiful off the Hawaiian island of Oahu, which was often spelled “Wahoo” on maps at that time. An alternate theory is that excited fishermen holler “Wahoo!” when they hook and catch the extremely swift predatory fish. Our restaurant chose the name to reflect the fresh seafood and other ingredients that we serve daily. We invite you to come in and taste the unique flavors at Wahoo Fire & Ice Grill!
